JK Adams - A Cut Above The Rest {Concave Cutting Board Review & GIVEAWAY}

Concave jk adams Disclosure: I received the item above at no cost to facilitate this review.

If you have followed Our Southern Style for any length of time, you know I love to cook, especially for my family. Not only do I love to cook, but when I cook, I always make it a priority to use as many fresh ingredients as possible. For years I used a thick plastic cutting board that very quickly took a turn for the worse. Each time I seemed to use it, gashes were left in the board and eventually I began to see flecks of plastic rubbing off onto the board, and quite possibly, sneaking in to the food I was cutting. The more I looked into the importance of a good cutting board, the more I discovered the benefits of using a wooden one. Many think the plastic boards are safer because they are easier to sanitize, which may be true if it's new. But if you use a plastic cutting board for any length of time, you will inevitably begin to have grooves and gashes for the obvious reason that plastic just isn't as hard as wood. It's in these grooves where bacteria is easily trapped and then transferred to anything placed on the cutting board. What happens if you get cuts or grooves in your wooden board?

Hardwoods, like maple, are fine-grained, and the capillary action of those grains pulls down fluid, trapping the bacteria – which are killed off as the board dries after cleaning - Ben Chapman, University of North Carolina.

 At JK Adams, I found an assortment of cutting boards available for all my food preparation and even serving needs.

  Concave 2

The JK Adams Concave-2014-DS comes ready for cutting and slicing action! The Concave collection is the newest addition to the JK Adams cutting board family and it's easy to see why this cutting board is already growing in popularity.

The unique, gentle, 4-way curve keeps your meat resting in its own delicious juices. These are the ultimate kitchen to table serving boards. The CON-2014 and CON-2014-DS both come with four anti-slip feet. Made from Maple with a teak oil finish - JK Adams website.

I didn't have a roast on the menu that night, but as you can see, it's not just the juices of the meat that will pool together in the center of the board. After slicing up just 3 Roma tomatoes it became very clear that not only will my meats soak up all of their own juices and flavors, but this cutting board will contain all of the juices and nutrients in my friends and vegetables as well. Instead of losing all of that extra flavor to my garbage disposal I can put all of that juice back into my dishes, soups, smoothies, etc.

The Concave-2014-DS comes with four non-slip plastic grips on each bottom corner of the cutting board. I will say that I'm a pretty rough chopper. With four hungry kids, one hungry husband, and dinner to get on the table, I like to cut hard and cut fast. Never once did I have a problem with cutting on this board and having to either stabilize it or move it back in place. The plastic grips kept the board right where I needed it to be and alleviated and fears that the board might suddenly slip and cause me to injure myself while preparing the food. If you want this board to move, you have to pick it up and place it where you want it. There's no sliding this one across the counter.
  Concave final

From the moment I took my JK Adams Concave-2014-DS board out of it's box I knew my old plastic board no longer had a chance. Aside from to obvious rustic beauty and smell of the wood itself, this board is just simply better in every way when compared to any other cutting board I have used. I would never have thought to use my plastic cutting board as it's own serving platter but when you combine the artistry of this product, and the mechanics of how to board literally bring flavor to the food by allowing it to rest in it's own juices, there's also no better serving platter in my cabinets. Meat in my home will be cut and served on my JK Adams Concave-2014-DS. My old plastic cutting board soon founds it's way to my trashcan and my JK Adams Concave is now the only cutting board in my kitchen.
