Cozy Up To Comfort All Year Long With Slanket!

The Slanket 1
Disclosure: I received the item above at no cost to facilitate this review.

I hate being cold! I don't know if you are like me, but I'm one of those people with consistently cold feet and hands. Sometimes when it's really cold, I swear the chill goes right to my bones and there seems to be nothing that I can do to truly feel warm. This past week it has been unseasonable cold in West Virginia, so much so that my kids had several school delays until last Friday when they just decided to throw in the towel and and keep the kids at home. It appears I'm not the only one in West Virginia who doesn't do cold! We have lived in our Townhouse now for almost 7 years and have never had any problems with our heat - until the Arctic made it's way to West Virginia that is. Our poor electric heat was no match for the -20 degree wind chill and the Crayne household was piling on the blankets at night. Then my Slanket Onesie arrived!

Monday Night Meals - Slow Cooker Stroganoff

Slow Cooker Stroganoff 3

It's time for another Monday Night Meal from Our Southern Style! Tonight's recipe is one of my 11 year old daughter Mariyah's favorite meals to make. She has quickly figured out that when it's HER night to help cook in the kitchen, a slow cooker gets the work done faster and leaves her more time for girl talk with Mom! Plus, can I get an "Amen" for fewer pots and pans to clean! For my Slow Cooker Stroganoff, I took a lot of the same ingredients I use in my more time consuming Stroganoff and edited them to work well in a crock pot. Tastes great and takes a lot less work! Serve hot over egg noodles. Throw some steamed vegetables on the plate or add a salad and meal is complete!

Look FabuLASH This Spring With Younique Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes

Younique kit
Disclosure: I received the item above at no cost to facilitate this review.

If you take even the slightest interest in today's latest beauty products, I'm sure you have heard of Younique Moostruck 3D Fiber Lashes. It is one of the hottest beauty products on the market, with personal consultants popping up all over the country on a mission to make you feel (and look) like you have the eyes of Hollywoods biggest movies stars! When I first heard about the product from a consultant in my own community I'll admit I was pretty intrigued. Like all women, I love to look and feel beautiful. There were times where I would stare at the false eyelashes as my local drug store, but ultimately, I knew I wouldn't have the patience to glue those tiny flimsy feather to my eyelashes. Younique Moonstruck 3D Fiber Lashes promises to "dramatically enhance and magnify the appearance of your own lashes" and I was anxious to find out if all of the hype was true!

Monday Night Meals - Mama's Easy Chicken Pot Pie

Mama's Easy Chicken Pot Pie 1

Our first "Monday Night Meal" starts with my 5-yr. old son Elijah's choice - "Mama's Easy Chicken Pot Pie". One of the best things about Pot Pie is that you've got the entire meal (meat, veggies, bread (ie: crust)) in one dish. If you like a vegetarian meal, feel free to omit the meat and add more veggies! If I know I have a hungry crowd at the table I sometimes add a fruit salad as well, but you basically have dinner done in one dish! If you follow Our Southern Style and most of my recipes, you'll find that I like to cook as much as I can from scratch. In my quest to get my own kids in the kitchen, especially my younger ones, and in an effort to still find time during the week to prepare warm and comforting food, I've simplified this first recipe and it's become a family favorite! When it comes to "Mama's Easy Chicken Pot Pie", there's never any leftovers!

5 Reasons To Get Kids In The Kitchen

Ask anyone what their favorite dish is and I'm sure they will tell you, "There's nothing like my Mom's (enter your Mom's favorite dish here)". I love to cook! For me, it's never been a chore. One of my greatest joys in life is putting good, wholesome food on the table for my family, watching them take delight in every mouthful, and hearing every remark of tasteful satisfaction: "Mom! This is great!" "You are the best chef ever!" "You should be on one of those cooking shows!" Mind you, I know I'm no Gordon Ramsey, but in my kids eyes - I'm a cooking genius, and for me, that's all the fans I need. As my kids have gotten older, they have started to ask how I make some of their favorite dishes. My oldest had, on one occasion, begged me to write down her favorite recipes should a tragic event befall me and I die without having written them down. Silly as that remark initially sounded, it was wrapped in a voice of love that had at the age of 11 had captured what truly makes my food wonderful. They love it, not just because it tastes good, but because "it's Mom's". It wasn't long after this simple conversation that I decided - It's time to get my kids in the kitchen!
